The Sahara Forest Project has the potential shows the pilot project in Qatar

leeg
The Sahara Forest Project has the potential to solve food and sweet water scarcity in a desert area like the Sahara.

To be able to solve that it needs access to CO2; lots of sunlight and sea water.

It could take the CO2 out of the sky and make sweet water from seawater - produced with the help of concentrated solar energy to desalinated the sea water - and sunlight to be able to grow the food crop.

The whole complex of the Sahara Forest Project is based on existing sustainable energy and agricultural techniques to grow a food crop, to produce energy and to produce drinking water - and that in an extreme dry, very hot and sunny area like the Sahara with no sweet water resources, but sea water access only.

The next video - English spoken - explains it all in more detail with the help of a pilot project. The first fully operational Sahara Forest Project Pilot Plant has been built in Qatar. It has certainly a potential to grow into big projects for many more desert regions, solving energy, food and drink related problems.
