Nuclear WasteMayor of Drancy said there had been no leak of nuclear waste after train derailed

A rail freight wagon carrying nuclear waste has derailed at a depot in Drancy, 3km northeast of Paris.

The town´s mayor said there was no leakage of nuclear waste,

About 4,000 freight wagons carrying radioactive or chemical waste pass through the station each year, Jean-Christophe Lagarde said, calling the incident "intolerable".

France's "Europe Ecologie Les Verts" (EELV) Green party called for an end to the transportation of radioactive waste through urban areas and busy stations following the incident.

"The slightest accident can have catastrophic effects," the EELV party said in a statement.

"All (nuclear waste) transport is risky and exposes populations to unnecessary danger."

Accidents do happen.

Please do not tell us the Nuclear Industry, Nuclear Power, Nuclear Waste and Nuclear Waste Transport is safe. It is another time proven it is Not !

  1. I completely agree with the article, Malten. Nicely shared. I believe the nuclear waste is one of the biggest threat for mankind. I wonder why people and industrialists have not given a serious thought over it.

  2. Dear Arnold Brame,

The whole thing comes to this:

One can not have on one side an UN organization, the International Atomic Energy Agency - IAEA, feverishly promoting Nuclear Power, as the cleanest and safest power - which it is definitely not and on the other hand an UN organization, the World Health Organization - WHO, tell us that it is not clean and potentially lethal to mankind and other living beings on this planet.

So what they did was that the WHO only can count a cancer patients death of which it is known the cancer is caused by direct radiation -not caused by a Nuclear Weapon explosion- as a death caused by the Nuclear Accident related to the Nuclear Industry.
e.g. the Chernobyl disaster caused officially only 31 death, but anyone with knowledge about it, including the physicians knows that that number is besides the truth - to low c.q. not accurate, but can not do anything about it.

Is nuclear power green? - http://www.precaution.org/lib/08/prn_is_nuclear_green.081030.htm - points to "The 12 principles of green engineering" - http://www.precaution.org/lib/green_engineering_principles.est.030307.pdf and also to "The 12 principles of green chemistry." - http://www.precaution.org/lib/green_chemistry.020802.pdf and proves Nuclear Power to be not green.
